Krystal joined in the celebration to honor America’s heroes on Veteran’s Day by unveiling its new partnership supporting the National Military Family Association’s Operation Purple Summer Camp Program.
The Operation Purple Summer Camp Program offers a free week of summer fun for military children with parents who have been, are currently, or will be deployed. The goal of the Operation Purple Camp Program is to give military children tools to help deal with the stresses that result from a parent’s deployment, through a memorable camp experience in a “purple” environment. Operation Purple camps are open to military children of all ranks and services, active and reserve components.
The Operation Purple Program gives children a break from war, friends to confide in, coping skills to handle mom or dad’s absence, and some fun to offset the extra responsibilities in their complicated young lives. The Operation Purple Camps help lower stress by simulating deployed parents’ experiences. Children speak with troops just back from war, explore helicopters and Humvees, taste meals-ready-to-eat, and play hide-and-seek with night-vision goggles.
The Krystal Company aims to supporting America’s active and veteran military along with their families. The company views the Operation Purple Program as an ideal partner for its efforts. “Many of our Krystal guests and employees have served or are currently serving our country, so we strongly believe that the Operation Purple Program can make a significant impact on the lives of their children and their families. This is a wonderful organization that serves military families in a multitude of ways, and we are proud to support such a great cause,” says Tom Peterson, chief marketing officer.
