La Madeleine Country French Café announces that John Cahill, a 10-year veteran at la Madeleine, has been named chief operating officer. In his new role, Cahill will manage strategic direction of the brand while overseeing the operations, culinary, marketing, and purchasing functions.

“I look forward to leading the brand’s growth as we continue to open new cafés across the nation,” says Cahill. “My goal is to enhance our guest’s experience with each and every visit by offering high-quality French cuisine and an inviting ambiance.”

Cahill joined la Madeleine soon after the company became part of Groupe Le Duff in 2002. In his most recent role as vice president of operations, Cahill was responsible for building the operational directors team, leading the refresh of 60 cafés, and implementing a renewed focus on guest satisfaction. During his tenure, the brand experienced historically low turnover rates with both management and hourly associates. In 2012, Cahill was a driving force behind la Madeleine’s win of the People Report and Black Box Intelligence Best Practices Award in the fast casual category, which recognizes companies that demonstrate exceptional workplace practices and results. Prior to la Madeleine, he held leadership roles with Applebee’s and Spaghetti Warehouse.

“With 25 years of experience in the food service industry, John’s deep understanding and knowledge provides la Madeleine with a strong foundation for the future,” says Jim Vinz, co-CEO of Le Duff America. “I’m confident that the la Madeleine brand will continue to evolve and grow across North America under his leadership.”
