Los Angeles gourmet sandwich shop, Marcona, has two new sandwiches in its line-up as of Tuesday, July 30, and to introduce its newest creations, Marcona will be running a deal on both sandwiches during the shop's operating hours on Friday, August 9. Guests who purchase one of the new sandwiches that day, get the second of either of the two new sandwiches for free.
Marcona's new sandwiches, brought to life by president Chef Andy Sonnefeld, are a Southern fried chicken (buttermilk fried chicken, Carolina red slaw, pickles, on a kaiser roll) and a short rib (BBQ braised short rib, charred radicchio, crimini mushrooms, wild watercress, garlic aioli, on pressed ciabatta) done Marcona-style, both of which were inspired by customer feedback and requests. The two new sandwiches join the already established list of customer favorites, like Marcona's "Lomo" (pulled pork, sweet potato purée, grilled onion, sautéed spinach, mustard, harissa, on ciabatta) and its version of the "BLT" (bacon, lettuce, tomato, tarragon aioli, on a pretzel roll).
Marcona features classic East Coast "deli" fare elevated by Mediterranean influences and a West Coast approach. The carefully-curated menu prominently features sandwiches, but also includes salads, sides, sweets, and now, brunch items. Marcona has full-service catering, pick-up, and delivery order services, for anything from smaller office lunches to craft service to large-scale events, both corporate and private.
