McAlister's Deli, a leading fast-casual restaurant, announced a same-store sales increase of 5 percent during the first quarter of 2013.

This marks the 11th straight quarter of positive sales growth. Comp sales were driven primarily by an increase in entrée sales, indicating overall traffic gains for McAlister’s restaurants system-wide.

“McAlister’s continued growth not only highlights the strength of the brand, but also the commitment of our franchisees to offer great food and genuine hospitality—our recipe for success,” says McAlister’s Deli president and CEO Frank Paci. “Our guests are very loyal and love our diverse menu, which allows us to continue to expand across the U.S.”

In addition to reporting comparable sales growth, McAlister’s announced the opening of four new restaurants in the first quarter and is expected to open 11 additional restaurants this year.

Over the past two years, McAlister’s has undertaken initiatives to strengthen its brand, including upgrading menu offerings and improving speed of service. Technomic recently recognized McAlister’s as the top chain in the fast-casual industry for food and beverage and as one of consumers’ Top 5 Favorite Chains in the country.
