NRA Hosts Session About Growth Strategies
The National Restaurant Association is directing NRA Show 2012 attendees looking for ways to expand business and access capital to participate in a special educational session, “Leveraging Local Resources to Grow Your Business: Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses,” which is taking place Monday, May 7, from 2-3:30 p.m. in Room S402B at McCormick Place.
“Goldman Sachs has created a program through its foundation, the goal of which is to put 10,000 small business owners, via scholarship, through an Executive MBA program. The National Restaurant Association is working with Goldman to introduce more of America’s restaurateurs and allied businesses into the program,” says Scott DeFife, Executive Vice President of Policy and Government Affairs for the Association.
“In addition, program participants have additional avenues of access to capital for growth and expansion.”
The Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses initiative has joined with community colleges, community development banks, and an array of local partners in Chicago, Houston, New Orleans, Los Angeles, Long Beach, and New York to provide small businesses with greater access to business management education, support services, networking opportunities, and capital.
Attendees of the Monday session will hear from restaurateurs who have been part of the Executive MBA program, and from the people that help put the program together.
Session moderator Bruce Heyman, Managing Director, Goldman Sachs will be joined by Shari Runner, Senior Vice President, Chicago Urban League; Don Laackman, President, Harold Washington Community College; and 10,000 Small Businesses participants: Mel Davis, The Breakfast Klub, and Danielle Hrzic, Gourmet Gorilla.
