Mamoun’s Falafel, the iconic 40-year-old New York City Middle Eastern restaurant, announced it will be opening a franchise location in Dallas this year. This is the concept’s first in the state of Texas. Real estate options are currently being explored in the Dallas area.

Mamoun’s Falafel is the oldest falafel restaurant in New York, having opened in 1971 in the heart of Greenwich Village. It was founded by Mamoun Chater, who turned authentic family recipes using simple ingredients and spices into a craveable menu of high quality Middle Eastern dishes. The restaurant quickly established a reputation as having the most authentic falafel in the city.

The restaurant’s popularity with Americans and immigrants from all walks of life spurred the opening of five additional locations in the New York/New Jersey area. The history and tradition of Mamoun’s is what drew the new franchisees, brothers Ghassanis Bros, LLC to the concept.

“Mamoun’s is the real deal,” says Raed. “My family knows what authentic Middle Eastern food tastes like, and Mamoun’s is it. Dallas doesn’t have anything like it in the area – we’re looking forward to bringing Texans true falafel and capitalizing on the growth of this popular segment.”

Along with their famous falafel, the Mamoun’s menu is filled with mouth-watering Middle Eastern cuisine including shawarma, hummus, kebobs, and even deserts such as baklava. Throughout the years, Mamoun’s has been featured on the Food Network—as well as countless other TV, newspaper, and Internet outlets—and visited and praised by famous musicians, actors, comedians, and other celebrities.

Mamoun’s uses a commissary and implements systems that create the same delicious taste at every location, ensuring consistency throughout all of its locations. This makes expansion to the Dallas market an exciting move for the concept owners. “Expanding to Dallas is a huge accomplishment for Mamoun’s,” says Hussam Chater, director of franchising for Mamoun’s Falafel. “We’re excited to welcome the Ghassani brothers to the Mamoun’s family. Bringing New York to Dallas is a great start and we’re hoping to expand further into Texas in the coming years.”

Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine, along with ethnic foods and spices, all foundations of Mamoun’s menu, have been growing in popularity and top many experts’ list of predicted trends in 2017. Mamoun’s is currently looking for experienced multi-unit food service operators to develop franchise territories in major markets across the United States and internationally.

Fransmart serves as Mamoun’s exclusive franchise development partner and is the franchise development company behind the explosive growth of brands like Five Guys Burgers and Fries.
