Hockey legend Mike Modano prefers his Pie Five pizza on artisan thin crust with double cheese and nine pepperonis, reflecting his famed jersey number being retired by the Dallas Stars later this week.

Texas pitcher Derek Holland channels the late Harry Caray while ordering his favorite pie with barbecue sauce, Mozzarella and Cheddar cheeses, chicken, red onions, and cilantro on Chicago-style pan crust. Don’t tell Derek, but Pie Five already created a signature pie with those exact ingredients, called the BBQ Chicken.

One thing both Dallas sports stars agree on: They love creating their own perfect pizza with their favorite toppings and getting it in under five minutes, which explains why Modano and Holland have filmed new TV spots for Pie Five Pizza that begin airing in Dallas–Fort Worth today.

“As you might expect, Derek and Mike were a lot of fun on set, and they seemed to enjoy scarfing down their favorite Pie Five Pizza during the multiple takes,” says Randy Gier, chief executive officer for Pie Five. “All of us at Pie Five are big fans of both local stars, and we were happy to know they’re fans of our pizza, too! We hope the spots draw lots of pizza lovers into our 13 Metroplex locations, so they can create their own all-star masterpieces.”

Pie Five’s humorous new campaign, produced by RD&F Advertising, will have an initial six-week run, beginning Monday, March 3. The spots will air during primetime on AMC, Comedy Central, Fox Sports Southwest, Discovery, FX, TBS, and TNT. The ads can also be seen online on Pie Five’s YouTube channel.
