At Pizza Patrón, October is a Month for St. Jude

For the second year in a row, Pizza Patrón will be raising funds in all its stores nationwide for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital during the entire month of October.

Pizza Patrón stores have St. Jude posters and counter top displays up that explain why and how to donate. St. Jude is a pediatric treatment and research facility in Memphis, Tennessee, that treats children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. Founded by entertainer Danny Thomas on the premise that "no child should die in the dawn of life," the hospital is well known for being the only pediatric cancer center in the country that won't charge parents for any treatment not covered by their insurance plan. No child is ever turned away from St. Jude's because of his or her family's inability to pay.

"Our teams are very excited about St. Jude's 'Compre una Calabaza de Esperanza' or 'Pin Up a Pumpkin' fundraising program. We raised $40,000 last year and hope to top that in 2011," says Andrew Gamm, brand director for Pizza Patrón. "St. Jude is an amazing charity and we hope everyone will come out and give generously."

Gamm said that donations of any size can be given and the donation will be indicated on the receipt in a separate line item. One hundred percent of the money raised will go to St. Jude's.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering research and treatment of children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases. The hospital's research has helped push overall survival rates for childhood cancer from less than 20 percent when the institution opened to almost 80 percent today. It is the first and only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center devoted solely to children. At St. Jude, families never pay for treatment not covered by insurance.

Pizza Patrón is headquartered in Dallas and celebrated the opening of its 100th restaurant in 2011 with locations in seven states and 85 more under development. Franchise opportunities, offering a proven system for hard-working franchisee candidates, are available in prime Hispanic markets throughout the country.
