Popeyes Continues Northern Expansion

Popeyes® Chicken & Biscuits signed an agreement for the development of 35 Popeyes locations in the New York/New Jersey marketplace. Combined with development agreements for 34 restaurants signed earlier this year, Popeyes plans to more than double its presence in the market during the next five years.

The chain currently has 54 restaurants operated by 19 franchise partners in the New York market. Overall, the company currently has a commitment pool of almost 900 commitments for future restaurant growth throughout the world.

"New York loves Popeyes' delicious, Cajun-style fried chicken and side items inspired by our Louisiana heritage,'' said Jon Luther, president, Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits. "Our New York market development agreements help us solidify our presence in the area and will allow us to serve our Cajun-style food to more people.''

The Popeyes menu is designed to appeal to "flavor seekers'' throughout the world that enjoy flavorful, but not necessarily spicy food. In addition to its signature New Orleans-style spicy and mild chicken, the brand features a line of side items that include Cajun rice, mashed potatoes with Cajun gravy and its world-famous red beans & rice. Additionally, Popeyes features the award-winning Popeyes Louisiana Legends® product line that is based on the "one-pot cooking'' tradition of southern Louisiana and features gumbos, etouffees and stews.
