Port City Java opened yesterday its newest café. The new unit, located at 4610 West Market Street, Greensboro, North Carolina, is a freestanding cafe offering drive-thru service. The cafe is owned by Mike Winstead, Jr., and managed by Jonathan Arms.

“We are very excited to grow the Brand in the Greensboro Market with Michael and Jonathan,” “Port City Java and Mr. Winstead are very fortunate to have secured a freestanding site with a drive-thru and the brand will be well served with this superior positioned location and operation. “[Port City Java] places a high value on sites with drive-Thru availability,” Don Reynolds, Port City’s COO, says.

The Greensboro opening stands as an example of Port City Java’s commitment to drive-thru locations. The company feels the added convenience of the drive-thru is a major force in maximizing unit sales. Its first drive-thru unit opened in 2001. Port City Java has since developed a training and operations program to fully support its drive-thru operations. The company plans to continue to focus on drive-thru locations as the gourmet coffee industry matures.
