Rational has donated two SelfCookingCenter whitefficiency 102 gas units, accessories, and cleaning products to Moore Public Schools, after two schools within the district were hit by a tragic tornado in May of this year. The units were installed on October 29, 2013 at Central Jr. High School and Westmoore High School located in Moore, Oklahoma. The donation units were built by Rational apprentices in Landsberg, Germany.
On May 20, 2013 the city of Moore, Oklahoma and the surrounding region was destroyed by an EF5 tornado. The roughly 1.3 mile wide tornado killed 25 people, injured hundreds of individuals, and damaged thousands of residences. Two of Moore Public Schools, Plaza Towers Elementary and Briarwood Elementary, were completely destroyed after the tornado ripped through the community.
“After this tragedy occurred, I knew that we, as a company, had to help this school district rebuild,” says Markus Glueck, president of Rational USA. As a result, Rational provided Moore Public Schools with two units, so the school district could prepare meals for the children during the new school year. Even though the kids will not be in the same building as last year’s school year, they will still be able to enjoy lunch and laugh with their friends.
“It has been a humbling experience for all of us. We felt blessed that Rational would think of us and be willing to help us out. As a community, we are hoping to rebuild and get half way back to normal,” explains Pam Hart, director child nutrition. For the new school year, both schools will now be able to make their homemade lasagna, stir fry, breakfast burritos, and other numerous meals in Rational’s SelfCookingCenter whitefficiency.
