Salata, “The Next Generation Salad Bar” that specializes in fresh, tossed-to-order salads and salad wraps, announced five new franchise development agreements that will bring 20 Salata restaurants to Southern California by 2015.

The Houston-based restaurant company announced its latest franchise opportunity in Q3 of 2012. The company opened its first Salata restaurant in California with its current franchise partner in City National Plaza in downtown Los Angeles in November 2011.

"Our first location in City National Plaza was the first seed we planted in the California market and it’s drawing crowds from the whole community,” says Berge Simonian, Salata founder and CEO. "Its success—as an opportunity that is healthy, profitable, and meets the high standards of southern California diners—has generated a great deal of attention from potential franchisees. In fact, most of our franchisees become interested in Salata after dining with us and seeing the opportunity to be part of the concept.”

Franchisee Talal Beydoun will be the first of the new California franchisees to open a location, slated for summer 2013 in Santa Ana, California, near the Costa Mesa Freeway.

The location will have ample outdoor seating and bar seating indoors. Catering will be available for area businesses.

"While Orange County has a wide range of healthy eating options, we have the triple combination of fresh ingredients, nearly unlimited choices, and a very affordable price," says Mano El-Assaad, general manager of the new Santa Ana location. "We think businesses and residents will love the concept."

Unlike other salad bar restaurants, Salata’s salads and salad wraps are made and tossed for the customer. Customers can choose from Salata’s selection of more than 50 fresh ingredients, including lettuces, vegetables, beans, fruits, cheeses, seeds, nuts, dressings, and proteins.

All Salata salad dressings are hand-prepared in-house and are gluten free.

Beydoun has plans to open six restaurants in Orange County in the next three years, and is eyeing real estate along the Costa Mesa Freeway in Irvine, Tusin, Newport Beach, Orange, and Santa Ana, California.

Salata’s other four new Southern California franchisees plan to open restaurants in downtown Los Angeles, Sherman Oaks, up through Granada Hills, and Santa Clarita, north of LA.
