Shiftgig, one of the largest and fastest growing professional networking and employment community for the service industry, announced that it delivered its one-millionth job application since launching in January 2012.

August was a busy month for us as we processed a new high of over 150,000 job applications, so it was rewarding to our team to cross the million application threshold,” says Eddie Lou, CEO of Shiftgig. “It’s a testament to our ease of use and our industry reputation for delivering high quality candidates that we have grown so fast. We will continue to focus on providing the best platform for the service industry to make connections and find employment.”

Unlike a simple job board, Shiftgig provides prospective employers and industry peers with an applicant profile which offers much more than a standard resume. In addition to work history and education, users can provide photos, evidence of their social influence, information about their outside interests that reflect their personalities, reviews, and employment preferences. Profiles can be submitted proactively for open positions, but are also searchable by other potential employers who have similar positions they would like to fill and industry peers interested in networking.

Shiftgig has registered more than 12,000 businesses in the service industry who are posting job listings on the company’s site. The majority of the postings are for traditional restaurant, nightlife, hotel, and retail industry positions such as bartenders, cashiers, hosts, and servers, but many businesses have also filled more challenging posts such as managers and line cooks.
