Smashburger announced it is ranked No. 99 on the 30th annual Inc. 500, thanks to its three-year sales growth of 2,673 percent. The Inc. 500 is an exclusive ranking of the nation's fastest-growing private companies. The list represents the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy—America’s independent entrepreneurs.

Smashburger is the country’s fastest growing better-burger restaurant concept, known for its smashed to order premium burgers and a broad menu that includes grilled and crispy chicken sandwiches, entrée salads, and an array of signature sides. There are 117 Smashburger locations nationwide and the company is on track to reach the 500-unit milestone within the next few years through partnerships with experienced multiunit franchisees as well as corporate store growth.

“We are very proud to be among the top 100 companies on this year’s Inc. 500 and to be recognized for our rapid growth over the past three years,” says Dave Prokupek, chairman and CEO of Smashburger. “We opened our first Smashburger in 2007 because we believed the burger industry was starving for innovation.  Consumers were lacking options for a better dining experience that pairs premium products with a format conducive to their busy lifestyle. Smashburger fills the void by combining quality food, service, and experience in a manner that is still fast, convenient and affordable. We are confident that at just 117 locations today, we have significant opportunity for continued growth.”

The 2011 Inc. 500, unveiled in the September issue of Inc., is a group of companies that are smaller but much faster growing than last year’s crop. Aggregate revenue is $10.5 billion, with a median three-year growth of 1,275 percent. The companies on this year's list employ more than 46,000 people and generated more than 35,000 jobs in the past three years.
