Based in Boulder, Colorado, one of the communities heaviest hit by recent flooding, Smiling Moose Deli witnessed the devastation from the fast-rising waters first hand. Because of the massive geographic area this storm covered, Smiling Moose Deli employees on the Front Range found themselves displaced from their homes or faced with extensive property damage.

“Being a part of the solution was a ‘no-brainer’, we knew it was the right thing to do,” says Chris Lynne, brand manager. With the help of Mo the Moose, Smiling Moose got serious about a sweet deal called ‘Cookies for Colorado’. Without hesitation, nearly every franchise owner, across the country agreed to participate – eager for the opportunity to help return local Colorado communities back to normal.

For every cookie sold between now and October 31, 2013, a portion will be donated to Boulder and Broomfield Counties’ Community Food Share Inc. This well respected food program has specifically committed to extend their efforts for long-term recovery and funds will allow food banks to ensure a sustainable source of food for displaced community members and those impacted economically by the floods.

These fresh-baked cookies are a finish to any of the hearty sandwiches, homemade soups, and salads offered at Smiling Moose Deli, but they also serve as an afternoon snack. Guests are encouraged to pick up a dozen to take home or bring back to the office to share, rebuilding Colorado one cookie at a time.
