Open the garage and pull out those old computers, cell phones, television sets, and other electronic items that are collecting dust.

Snappy Salads in Dallas, will recycle your electronic items (e-waste) on Saturday, October 23, 2010, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Preston Forest location at 5915 Forest Lane in Dallas.

Specific items that can be recycled include: computers, televisions, monitors, laptops, cell phones, VCRs, stereos, copiers, printers, video games, fax machines, calculators, as well as small appliances and batteries.

The EPA estimates that in 2007, the U.S. discarded 2.25 million tons of e-waste.

“Like most people, I have quite a few old and broken electronic items that just sit in my garage taking up space because I know they shouldn’t be thrown out with the trash. I’m looking forward to clearing them out, and I know our guests will feel the same,” says Chris Dahlander, president of Snappy Salads.

Not only is Snappy Salads collecting e-waste for recycling, they are also providing lunch to 200 volunteers at the other collection points.

“Encouraging other people to be good stewards of the earth is part of our mission at Snappy Salads. I’m so excited about this event because it shows our dedication to helping people lower their impact on the environment outside of our four walls,” Dahlander says. “This event aligns perfectly with the DNA of our company.”
