SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza Rolls Out Expansion Plans in California

SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza, the fast casual known for its Neapolitan-style pizza, salads, sandwiches, and gelato, plans to open two more Orange County, California, locations in Los Alamitos in December 2013 and in Huntington Beach at the Bella Terra mall in Spring 2014. Honored as a Rest of the 101 Best Restaurants in the nation by TheDailyMeal.com and as a Breakout Brand in 2013 by Nation’s Restaurant News, SPIN! offers a menu of fresh ingredients at reasonable prices and affordable premium wines.

The Los Alamitos SPIN! will be located at 11122 Los Alamitos Blvd. and the Huntington Beach restaurant will be built at the Bella Terra outdoor shopping mall. The first Orange County location opened in May 2013 at the Stadium Promenade near Honda Center and Angels Stadium of Anaheim.

Founded in 2005 in Kansas City, Missouri, by restaurant industry veterans Gail and Richard Lozoff and Edwin Brownell, SPIN! has five locations in Kansas and Missouri with a sixth under construction. SPIN!’s first franchisee, Hofman Hospitality Group (HHG), has plans to open a total of 37 SPIN! restaurants throughout Southern California during the next 10 years. HHG, headquartered in Signal Hill, California, also owns 18 Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que locations in California, Arizona, and Nevada, and five Hof’s Hut restaurants in Southern California.

Neapolitan Pizza’s unique menu is rooted in authentic Neapolitan flavors but adds a modern culinary twist that is something new to Southern California,” says Craig Hofman, president of Hofman Hospitality Group. “We anticipate that our guests in Los Alamitos and Huntington Beach will be just as delighted as our loyal fans in Orange have been these past five months.”

SPIN!’s menu was developed in conjunction with James Beard Award-winning chef Michael Smith. The restaurant offers a selection of hand-spun, stone-fired, traditional thin-and-bubbly crust, whole-wheat crust, and gluten-free pizzas. SPIN!’s dough is made from several types of flour including one imported directly from Italy. SPIN! roasts all toppings and ingredients in its stone hearth ovens each day, including mushrooms, caramelized onions, artichokes, and even capers, pecans, pineapples, pine nuts, and pancetta. SPIN! offers both traditional Pizza Rossa with crushed Roma tomato sauce and Pizza Bianca with roasted olive oil glaze, and many of its cheeses are hand-grated.

One of its more popular pizzas, the Margherita, was crowned one of the best dishes of 2012 by Restaurant Business magazine, and it has been awarded best pizza honors by numerous publications in its hometown of Kansas City, Missouri, where it is ranked number one pizza restaurant by Zagat.
