Sweetgreen, the farm-to-table organic salad and frozen yogurt shop, last week opened its 13th location in the Washington D.C. metro area, at 1065 5th Street NW in the City Vista complex.

The 1,450-square-foot, two-level restaurant joins Safeway, Vida Fitness, and Capital One, among other retailers and businesses, in the bustling lifestyle hub developed by Edens and Avant.

As with every Sweetgreen location, the space’s design is unique. The nearly triple volume, light-filled space features polished concrete floors and a mezzanine dining area overlooking the restaurant’s entrance and 5th Street. Reclaimed wood encases the restaurant’s most prominent columns and bicycle wheel-themed art gives the space a whimsical touch. The restaurant’s façade is a tasteful mix of the new and old: understated dark metal and reclaimed wood.

The new City Vista Sweetgreen also sells Sweetpress, the cold-pressed juice line launched in June. Already growing in popularity, Sweetpress is now available at four Sweetgreen locations in Washington and was featured in the September issue of Food & Wine magazine as part of the national “healthy juicing” trend.

At every location, Sweetgreen makes an operation-wide effort to leave a gentle footprint on the planet. By using compostable packaging, design details and furniture made from reclaimed materials, and wind energy offset credits to power the stores, Sweetgreen continually aims to raise the bar in sustainability business practices.
