-With Dayton, Cincinnati and Lexington in mind, Anthony Wean staked his claim on a golden opportunity to develop the rapidly expanding, Baja-inspired restaurant concept, Taco Del Mar. After months of careful site selection and construction, Cincinnati’s first Taco Del Mar will open November 9 at 10798 Montgomery Road, near Bethesda North Hospital at the intersection of Montgomery Road and I-275.

Wean is franchising his own restaurant location, and it will serve as a prototypical training store as his new franchisees take Taco Del Mar throughout the region.

“Montgomery Road brings us a perfect centralized location to introduce Taco Del Mar as we begin franchising,” Wean says. “People are going to love the food quality and the surf atmosphere.”

Wean, a multi-unit Subway owner, plans to franchise Taco Del Mar from Lexington, Kentucky northward through Cincinnati and into the Dayton, Ohio market. His plan is to open 100 stores in the next 10 years. There are currently 272 Taco Del Mar units across North America.

Taco Del Mar was co-founded in Seattle in 1992 by brothers James and John Schmidt and inspired by southern Baja, Mexico and coastal beach shacks that serve burritos and tacos.
