Taco Del Mar Uses Gift Cards to Support Charity

Today, The Moyer Foundation (www.moyerfoundation.org) announced a partnership with Taco Del Mar restaurants to support Camp Erin, the largest network of bereavement camps for children in the country, with a punch card loyalty program that also helps kids starting this baseball season. The Moyer Foundation recently announced the national expansion of Camp Erin to 10 new cities this year with a five-year goal of establishing more than 50 Camp Erins including one in every major league baseball city.

For a limited time, guests that spend just $5.00 at participating Western Washington Taco Del Mar restaurants receive a punch on their Camp Erin Taco Del Mar Reward Card. When a guest receives 10 punches on their card, they will receive $5.00 off their next order. In addition, a $5.00 donation will be made to Camp Erin on behalf of Taco Del Mar. The Camp Erin Taco Del Mar Reward program is scheduled to run the length of the major league baseball season from April 1 to September 28, 2008.

“We truly appreciate Taco Del Mar stepping up to the plate with us to support Camp Erin,” said Jamie Moyer, Philadelphia Phillies pitcher and co-founder of The Moyer Foundation. “Support from corporate partners like Taco Del Mar and its loyal customers help us to raise the funds needed to expand our camps and help many more grieving kids who are in need of the services and support of Camp Erin.”

In addition to putting a Camp Erin in every major league baseball city, The Moyer Foundation will also be bringing Camp Erin to additional cities around the country as well as adding more camps throughout the state of Washington. This nationwide expansion is made possible through The Moyer Foundation’s Campaign for Kids, a major fundraising campaign launched in March 2007.

“Taco Del Mar is proud to team up with The Moyer Foundation, and specifically to build awareness for Camp Erin--bereavement camps for children,” said James Schmidt, president and CEO of Taco Del Mar. “The Moyer Foundation and Taco Del Mar both have Northwest roots, and it is exciting for us to help raise money for a cause so close to home. As Taco Del Mar and Camp Erin continue to expand, we look forward to growing our fundraising efforts across the country.”

Camp Erin is free to all children and is a weekend-long experience filled with traditional camp activities. Bereavement experts and trained volunteers facilitate and provide education and emotional support to each child throughout the weekend.

The Moyer Foundation partners with national advocates such as professional athletes and teams, corporations and local hospice and grief counseling organizations in the communities where the camps exist. The first Camp Erin was established in Snohomish County, Washington in 2002. Currently, with 18 camps/sessions located in 12 states, Camp Erin has served more than 2,000 children.
