Philadelphia-based snack cake company, Tastykake, celebrates the tastiest of all national food holidays, Donut Day on June 7, 2013, by rolling out free donuts to the first 5,000 fans who register on its Facebook Brand Page. To win a free donut coupon, consumers need to enter their name and email address on www.facebook.com/Tastykake. The free coupon will be good for one free Tastykake donut product, any size, and redeemable from June 7 to14, 2013.

"As one of our most beloved products, Tastykake donuts have always been a customer favorite," says Brent Bradshaw, vice president of Flowers Foods. "National Donut Day originated as a way to honor those in need, as well as those who've served our country, and as Tastykake has long been a huge supporter of the military, it seemed a natural fit in the spirit of the holiday to reward our biggest fans with this special promotion."

Available in single serve, multi-serve boxes, or new sharable bags, Tastykake donuts come in a variety of sizes and flavors. Flavors range from the most popular, powdered mini donuts, coated with the finest confectioners' sugar, to the rich frosted assorted donuts, perfect for sharing.

Now in its 75th year, National Donut Day is held on the first Friday of every June and initially started in 1938 as a fundraiser for the Chicago Salvation Army to help needy families during the Great Depression. The holiday was also created to commemorate The Salvation Army "Lassies" of World War I, a group of volunteer women who helped care for American soldiers in France, serving freshly-made donuts to homesick service men on the front line.
