More than one year after the April 27, 2011, tornado destroyed its original building, Krispy Kreme re-opened its Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Doughnut Factory.

Hundreds of doughnut fans camped out and lined up at 5 a.m. on August 21 for the grand re-opening of the Krispy Kreme Doughnut Factory in Tuscaloosa.

"We are extremely excited to bring our one-of-a-kind doughnuts and complementary beverages back to our Tuscaloosa fans," says Evan Smith, general manager and president of Smith Doughnuts, Inc., a Krispy Kreme franchisee.

The approximately 4,400-square-foot free-standing location with a drive thru will feature more than a dozen varieties of Krispy Kreme's doughnuts, including the signature hot Original Glazed, as well as a complete menu of Chillers, iced beverages, and Krispy Kreme Signature Coffee Blends.

The first 100 guests in the shop, as well as the first dozen cars through the drive thru, received a free commemorative T-shirt.
