Email this storyRead More About
Cowboy Chicken, the seven-unit, Dallas-based, fast-casual wood-fire rotisserie chicken brand, announced it will be open at all seven locations on January 1, and will offer a complimentary serving of black-eyed peas for good luck to each guest.
A staple in the Southern diet for more than 300 years, black-eyed peas have long been associated with good luck. A dish of peas is a New Year's tradition in most areas of the South, and is a long time tradition at Cowboy Chicken, thought to bring luck and prosperity for the New Year.
“Cowboy Chicken welcomes our guests for some of our famous black-eyed peas on New Year’s Day each year,” says Sean Kennedy, president of Cowboy Chicken. “Remember, black-eyed peas on New Year’s Day brings good luck for the entire year."
Besides its New Year’s black-eyed peas, Cowboy Chicken is known for its all-natural, wood-fired rotisserie chicken the 30-year old brand has perfected, cooked on a custom-built rotisserie stacked with hickory wood to deliver the wood-fire flavor.
