Wendy’s Offers Consumers “The Gouda Life” with New LTO

Wendy’s is inviting consumers to get a taste of  “The Gouda Life,” a world filled with tastes of a brioche bun, Dijon aioli, and Gouda cheese. The brand unveiled its latest premium offering, the new Smoked Gouda Chicken on Brioche. With Gouda making its appearance on Wendy’s menu for the first time, the limited-time only Smoked Gouda Chicken on Brioche is packed with savory sophistication without pricey pretension.

“The new Smoked Gouda Chicken on Brioche brings distinct and sophisticated flavors to the table—particularly the mild yet nutty tastes of smoked Gouda—to help elevate our customers’ food experience,” says Liz Geraghty, Wendy’s vice president of brand marketing.  “At Wendy’s, we understand our customers are seeking an elevated culinary experience through specialty and on-trend ingredients like natural cheeses and premium, artisan breads, all at a quick-service price.”

The new Smoked Gouda Chicken on Brioche is packed with flavor, including a Dijon aioli with a tangy mustard finish paired with double-smoked Gouda cheese. The sandwich also features a sweet caramelized onion sauce made from puréed caramelized onions, lightly breaded chicken breast, sliced red onions, and spring mix, all served on a toasted brioche bun.

Following on the heels of other Wendy’s products featuring unexpected cheeses within the industry, such as Asiago, Cheddar, and Muenster, Gouda is making its debut at Wendy’s. This specialty, smoked cheese with robust flavor is a trending cheese in 2014, according to a report from International Dairy-Deli-Bakery Association, and is growing in popularity among food enthusiasts.

Available for a limited time at participating Wendy’s, the Smoked Gouda Chicken on Brioche has a suggested price of $4.79.
