Whataburger’s Monterey Melt burger, which was introduced earlier in 2013 for a limited time, returned to the menu as an All-Time Favorite, joining a select group of the company’s most famous menu items.

The Monterey Melt was popular during its short run on the Whataburger menu in 2013. Based on customer response, Whataburger decided to bring it back full-time as one of the All-Time Favorites. The Monterey Melt includes two beef patties topped with Monterey Jack and American cheese, grilled onions and peppers, and Whataburger’s Jalapeño Ranch sauce.

“Our All-Time Favorites menu is based on customer feedback. We knew, after seeing our customers’ love for the Monterey Melt, we had to find a way to put it on the menu full-time,” says Whataburger vice president of marketing and innovation Rich Scheffler. “The Monterey Melt has the perfect combination of melted cheese, grilled onions, grilled poblanos, and red bell peppers, and our Jalapeño Ranch sauce giving it the bold flavor our customers crave.”

The Monterey Melt is available as a meal or á la carte, or can be ordered as a junior version on a smaller bun.

“The ingredients in the Monterey Melt were carefully selected to work together to create an intense, memorable set of flavors. We also like giving customers the option to add their favorite additions like avocado, bacon, or jalapeños,” Scheffler says.
