Wingstop, the 530-unit, award-winning wing chain, has opened its first restaurant in Michigan, located at 25110 Evergreen Road in Southfield.

And soon, Detroit-area wing fans will have several new locations to get their fix. In addition to the new Southfield location, Wingstop has signed three development agreements that will result in multiple new restaurants in the area, including restaurants opening soon in Livonia and Warren.

John C. Draper II, an experienced operator who manages several restaurant concepts in Detroit, plans to open multiple Wingstop restaurants in Detroit, beginning with the state’s first restaurant, now open in Southfield.

A second Detroit-area location will quickly follow Draper’s Southfield opening. Franchise owner Andrew Elliott is scheduled to open in late-November at 28517 Schoolcraft Road in Livonia.

In addition, a third franchisee, Stephen Davidson, expects to open in Warren, Michigan early next year at 28656 Dequindre Road.

“Wingstop has arrived in Detroit in a big way,” says Draper, who is already beginning construction on his second and third Wingstop locations, on 8 Mile Road and in Roseville. “We are all longtime members of the community, and we’re committed to developing Wingstop in the area and adding new jobs to Detroit.”

Davidson, a 30-year food service industry veteran, agrees Wingstop will be the perfect addition to the market.

“There’s great potential to grow this national brand in Detroit,” says Davidson. “I was basically born and raised here, and as a longtime resident, I’m proud to see new businesses and concepts come into the city. We’re all excited to open our doors and start serving fresh, made-to-order wings to sports fans, families, and the Detroit community.”

With a sole focus on cooked-to-order chicken, the Wingstop menu features classic and boneless wings, chicken strips, and Glider sandwiches – all sauced and tossed in 10 original flavors. Homemade side dishes include seasoned fries, cut fresh daily from Idaho potatoes, baked beans, and potato salad.
