James A. Flynn, Wingstop president and CEO, announced today that first quarter comp store sales have increased 17 percent over the first quarter of 2006. The chain has also increased comp store sales over the corresponding period a year prior for 15 consecutive quarters — starting third quarter 2003 on June 29 and ending first quarter 2007 on April 1, 2007.

“Our commitment to focusing solely on chicken wings and our dedication to being The Wing Experts has enabled us to reach these tremendous accomplishments,” Flynn said. “We anticipate continued growth throughout 2007 as we adhere to our great tradition of service in our current stores, introduce our brand into new markets, extend the online ordering opportunity to more customers, and celebrate the upcoming sales of our one-billionth chicken wing.”

Wingstop offers restaurants with an aviation-themed atmosphere where the sole focus is on chicken wings. The chain now serves boneless wings that are made from 100 percent all-white meat chicken breast.

Wingstop has more than 550 restaurants either open or under development in 27 states. Troy Aikman, three-time Super Bowl champion and Hall of Fame inductee, signed on as the chain’s national spokesman in 2003.
