Wingstop announced today that it sold more than 4 million wings on Super Bowl Sunday, exceeding its projection by a half million. The weekly sales reports also showed that almost half of the restaurants systemwide (193 of 400 locations) broke their all-time weekly sales record, the week ending with Super Bowl Sunday.

This is the chain’s 15th anniversary and each year Wingstop raises the bar for how many wings fly out the door in a 12-hour shift.

“We’re really happy to see the final numbers for that week,” says Jim Flynn, Wingstop CEO. “It was great to beat our own projection by 14 percent and see so many of our franchisees beat their own weekly sales record.”

Flynn also says the business was more manageable this year because of pre-orders and the company’s online ordering system.

“We always encourage our sports fans to call their playoff party orders in early. Actually, it is a good thing to do for any special event to avoid a wait. Just tell us when you want to pick up,” Flynn says.
