Zpizza Launches New Recipe Pepperoni With Contest
In honor of National Pizza Month and its 25th anniversary, Zpizza launches “Pure Pepperoni” and asks customers to help design its next pizza creation through the “Pure Pepperoni Design Your Dream Pizza” recipe contest throughout October.
As part of its commitment to providing the highest quality ingredients at an affordable price, Zpizza’s culinary team spent two years developing a specially formulated, all-natural, MSG-free pepperoni with no added nitrites and no preservatives.
Pure Pepperoni has the same flavor profile and nutrition content, but is a higher quality product and is the only pepperoni used in all 100 Zpizza locations.
“Pepperoni is one of the most popular pizza toppings and we wanted to create a healthier, gourmet pepperoni with the same great taste, but without many of the additives that go into processed meat,” says Sid Fanarof, founder of Zpizza. “This is the first time a national chain has created a product like this for use on a global scale, and we’re proud to offer a pepperoni with the same great flavor that’s better for you.”
From Oct. 6–31, fans can create their dream pepperoni pizza via the “Pure Pepperoni Design Your Dream Pizza” recipe contest on the Zpizza Facebook page.
Entries will be judged by Zpizza’s culinary team, Sid’s Kitchen, a food and restaurant reporter for The Orange County Register, and the public. The winning recipe will be announced Nov. 21 and featured on menus during National Pizza Week, Jan. 9–13, 2012, along with the possibility of becoming a permanent menu item.

Throughout the month of October, for every case of pepperoni purchased by Zpizza locations, $10 will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Additionally, all stores are selling St. Jude Pumpkin Pin Ups for $1 in support of the organization, as part of its ongoing charitable partnership.
