Since Valentine’s Day, 11 participating Jersey Mike’s stores contributed 25 cents for each regular sub and 50 cents for each giant sub sold to WOKC. Additionally, special donation buckets were placed in each store for customers to offer their own contributions.
This final day of fundraising invited Dallas/Fort Worth residents to help make a difference by making a minimum contribution of $1 to WOKC in exchange for a free regular sub, although the hope is that customers will respond by giving even more.
“We can’t thank our customers enough for their generosity this past month,” says Dalton Stewart, the Dallas franchisee who initiated the partnership. “Our goal is to raise as much money as we can for Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer, and we know this final event on March 12 is going to be phenomenal. We encourage everyone to come in with a generous heart and make a difference one sub at a time.”
To help the effort, local VIPs will stand shoulder to shoulder with the Jersey Mike’s teams in participating stores, wiping tables and greeting customers. Local celebs include popular radio personality Norm Hitzges and the BaD Radio crew from The Ticket Sports Radio, John David Wells from KLIF Talk Radio’s “The Wells Report,” Josh Hart from MIX 102.9, Randy James from Lone Star 92.5, Dallas DJ Bill Cody, basketball Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman, State Congressman Allen Vaught, seven area mayors, and more.
“Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer is very honored to be the recipient of such kind generosity from Jersey Mike’s,” says Cindy Brinker Simmons, founding chairman of the non-profit organization. “For the past 30 years, we have served young heroes with cancer and are resolutely determined to continue to do all that we can to help eradicate this mean-spirited disease. We are grateful beyond measure that our charitable teammate, Jersey Mike’s, shares our same passion for this noble crusade.”
