"We at CKE Restaurants are so pleased to celebrate this honor with Carl on his 90th birthday," said Puzder. "Carl and Margaret Karcher were pioneers of our industry, are pillars of the community, and certainly deserve this recognition. Carl has always been the ethical entrepreneur. He is a person who feels strongly about faith in God and the importance of family. He is a living testament to the opportunities America provides to anyone with the desire to achieve and the willingness to work hard, even to a poor farm boy from Ohio. The Karcher family has touched countless lives through their generosity as business leaders and philanthropists, and we are thrilled to see Carl honored for his efforts in such a lasting and significant way."
Karcher is the second Anaheim dignitary to receive recognition from the City; The late media mogul and Disneyland founder Walt Disney was honored with the first in November 2006. The Anaheim / O.C. Walk of Stars is meant to honor visionary leaders, entertainers, and entrepreneurs who have made a positive impact in Anaheim and throughout Orange County. Recipients of stars will include celebrities, athletes, entrepreneurs, pioneers and humanitarians.
"It is only fitting that Carl Karcher receive a star because of his impact on the City of Anaheim and his entrepreneurial legacy," said Mayor Curt Pringle. "Anaheim is based on the same principles Carl and Margaret Karcher embraced, and our community has flourished because of contributors like them."
