For the four-week period, U.S. same-store sales increased 9 percent at Taco Bell and 6 percent at KFC, while at Pizza Hut they declined 10 percent. Pizza Hut overlapped a very successful Insider Pizza promotion, which drove 9-percent same-store sales growth last year. The company expects Pizza Hut to end the year with positive sales momentum and its fourth straight year of positive same-store sales growth.
Sales data for this latest period represents the second four-week period in Tricon's fiscal fourth quarter, which includes four periods. Same-store sales results for Period 12 (primarily November) will be released Thursday, December 6, 2001, prior to the market's opening.
