This holiday season, Whataburger will honor a series of “Hometown Heroes” who give back to their communities. Honorees will be treated to a hearty breakfast for themselves and 20 close friends. Whataburger Facebook fans are invited to nominate everyday unsung heroes who are making a difference in their local community and deserve to be recognized.
The hero could be anyone who makes an effort to help others, such as a baseball coach who takes the time to not only coach, but also mentor his players on life’s little challenges; a teacher who goes above and beyond her duties by tutoring kids free of charge after school hours; a volunteer who always makes time to help others in need; or a single parent who works two jobs to send his or her kids to college. Selection will be based on the compelling story and why that person is considered an unsung hero.
Whataburger will accept nominations for these unsung heroes via a special tab on its Facebook page through Friday, December 21, and a Hometown Hero will be selected and announced every week through Friday, December 28. The selected Hometown Heroes will each receive a breakfast party for up to 20 guests at his or her neighborhood Whataburger.
“We have some of the most generous fans and customers who are more than worthy of being recognized for their community contributions - even though they are always more than happy to do what they do with no recognition at all,” says Pam Cox, group director of communications for Whataburger. “We are excited to have the chance to honor a few of the amazing, everyday heroes in our local communities who you might not see in the local newspaper, but deserve to be celebrated for what they do to help others.”
In addition to this Hometown Hero Facebook initiative, Whataburger supports the communities it serves through charitable giving and volunteerism to a number of nonprofit organizations that focus on children's charities, cancer research, hunger assistance, disaster relief, and military support.
