Bennigan’s CEO Paul Mangiamele will deliver the keynote address at the 2013 Irish Pubs Global Gathering, scheduled for September 29–October 1 at the Burlington Hotel in Dublin, Ireland.
It is the largest annual meeting of Irish pub owners and managers in the world.
“We are honored and delighted that Paul has agreed to join us for the 2013 Gathering, which is going to be an extraordinary learning and networking event for our attendees,” says Enda O’Coineen, president and founder of Irish Pubs Global.
“The turnaround he has engineered is nothing short of historic, and I, for one, am looking forward to hearing more about how Paul and his team restored Bennigan’s to its rightful place amongst the world’s great Irish brands,” O’Coineen adds.
Drawing from his recently published book, Bennigan’s Return to Relevance … Bleeding Green 25/8, Mangiamele will center his remarks on the challenges of bringing a Chapter 7 brand back from the brink.
In particular, he will emphasize the pillars and initiatives that must be stringently followed to effect change and ensure success.
In addition, Mangiamele will discuss how the Bennigan’s brand can now be adapted to the Irish pub concept through the licensing of multiple signature items. This addresses a long-standing request from prospective master franchisees that want to bring Bennigan’s to Ireland while maintaining the traditional nuances of authentic local pubs.
“Bennigan’s kinship with the Irish has always been deep and genuine, so I am honored to carry our banner to Ireland for this impressive global gathering,” Mangiamele says. “I’m looking forward to meeting my fellow Irish pub owners and executives, potential new franchise partners, and others that share our dedication to championing Irish hospitality across the globe. Some day very soon, I hope we will have the honor of flying our flag on the Emerald Isle.”
Mangiamele has led the chain’s re-emergence from bankruptcy since May 2011. Since that time, he has instituted a wide range of improvements to Bennigan’s, including giving the brand a new look and feel, improving operational standards and training, optimizing the menu, and more.
Every employee is inspired to “bleed green,” which Mangiamele has fostered as part of the new Bennigan’s culture. “Bleeding green” is defined as the passion, work ethic, and commitment to delivering unparalleled service not just 24/7, but “25/8.”
Founded in Atlanta in 1976, Bennigan's is now nearly a 100-unit company, and has experienced extensive domestic and international expansion over the past two years.
Bennigan's Franchising Company plans to continue its growth momentum and has agreements to develop more than 30 new restaurants in the next few years in New Jersey, Virginia, Texas, Arkansas, Minnesota, Florida, Tennessee, and Michigan. International openings slated for Dubai, Mexico, Central America, Cyprus, and Korea at U.S. Army base Camp Humphreys.
To celebrate Mangiamele’s address in Dublin, Bennigan’s is offering a free appetizer with the purchase of an entrée for all of its Facebook followers. The offer is good through September 30.
