Famous Brands Int'l Waives Franchise Fee for 50 Veterans

As a way of expressing gratitude and recruiting exceptional franchisees, Famous Brands International, the parent company of TCBY Yogurt and Mrs. Fields Cookies, announced it will waive the franchise fee for the first 50 qualifying military veterans who join the brand starting this month. The company is committed to giving away $1.75 million in free franchise fees through the program.

TCBY Yogurt, Mrs. Fields Cookies Amp Up Int'l Expansion

Famous Brands International, the parent company of TCBY Yogurt and Mrs. Fields Cookies, announced a master franchise agreement that will bring 28 TCBY stores to Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, and Vietnam over the next 10 years. The deal is representative of the international growth for both American dessert brands.

TCBY Innovates Again With Silk Almondmilk Fro-Yo

In another first for frozen-yogurt stalwart TCBY—and the fro-yo category as a whole—the brand is unleashing Silk Chocolate Almond, an almondmilk-based frozen-yogurt option.

Combining the brand’s signature frozen yogurt with Silk’s almondmilk, the product will be an indulgent, dairy-free product that the concept is calling “the perfect match.”

With Growth on the Brain, TCBY Refuses to Stand Still

Frozen-yogurt chain TCBY may be the category leader—ahead of brands like Pinkberry, Red Mango, and Menchie’s with nearly 18 percent market share, according to an October 2012 report from IBISWorld—but it refuses to get too comfortable in its place out front.

In fact, following several major moves over the last few years—including the rollout of a new prototype and self-serve model, as well as the introduction of Greek fro-yo and Super Fro-Yo—the brand is gearing up for continued innovation and growth.

Aside from all being west of the Mississippi River, Denver; Waco, Texas; and Yuma, Arizona, have seemingly little in common. One is a thriving cosmopolitan metro nestled on the rim of the Rocky Mountains; one sits in the shadow of much larger and more heralded Lone Star markets; and the other perches quietly on the nation's southern border.

Each has its own charm and character, but all share one distinction: high potential for quick-service restaurant growth, according to QSR’s third-annual Growth 40 report.

A Lot of Sweet, A Lot of Healthy in New TCBY LTOs

TCBY is kicking off 2013 by satisfying the sweet tooth of customers nationwide. Beginning at the start of the year, TCBY will offer, for a limited time, nonfat Frosted Sugar Cookie, nonfat Double Fudge Brownie, and 97 percent fat-free Wedding Cake soft-serve frozen yogurt. Frosted Sugar Cookie and Double Fudge Brownie flavors will pack a punch of prebiotics, vitamins, protein, calcium, and live active probiotic cultures, qualifying for the Super Fro-Yo classification.
