NFL Legend's Fast Casual Splits from Better-Burger Pack

Last December, the 22-year-old Shula Steakhouse enterprise entered the quick-service space when it launched Shula Burger, a fast-casual spot eager to differentiate itself from other better-burger concepts.

The concept’s burgers blend brisket, short rib, and Black Angus beef chuck, and the menu includes other novel dishes, like the ahi tuna burger, and sommelier-suggested wine pairings. These upscale options position Shula Burger more as a gourmet fast casual, says vice president of corporate development Bill Herman.

Top NFL Coach Jumping Into Better Burger Business

The winningest coach in National Football League history and restaurateur Don Shula is kicking off his newest concept, Shula Burger. The first location will open in Islamorada, Florida (in the Keys) by the end of the year. Other planned locations for 2012 include Fort Lauderdale, Delray Beach, Kendall, Orlando, and Tampa.

Shula Burger is a fast-casual gourmet burger concept that will include wine pairings, as well as salads, chicken sandwiches, fries, shakes, and more.  

NFL Legend Opens Fast-Casual Burger Joint

Don Shula, the winningest coach in National Football League history, announced a new fast-casual burger concept called Shula Burger.

The concept will include gourmet burgers as well as a build-your-own-burger menu. The restaurant will also feature salads, chicken sandwiches, and veggie burgers.

"We have been working on Shula Burger for two years," Shula says. "We think that this will be a highly successful concept."
