The Athens, Georgia–based fast-casual chicken restaurant has a devoted following throughout the Southeast, and veteran franchisee Sterling Coleman is confident Oklahoma City will be an important foothold for the company’s successful nationwide growth.
At the request of the its fans, Zaxby’s brought back Fried Pickles as a limited-time offer menu item and is featuring its Grilled Chicken Sandwich Meal to complement the summer grilling season. A Southeast favorite for chicken fingers and wings, Zaxby’s encourages fanatics to take advantage of its summer promotional offerings available in all Zaxby’s location.
With new limited-service brands emerging at a rapid pace, consumers have more dining choices than ever, and their preferences are proving that established national concepts could learn a thing or two from these smaller, younger chains. According to a nationwide study on consumers’ favorite quick-service chains from Market Force Information, brands like Firehouse Subs, Qdoba, and Papa Murphy’s rank better for customer satisfaction compared to more established category players like Subway, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut.
As Zaxby’s Franchising Inc. continues to grow, so do its philanthropic efforts. On Tuesday, April 15, Zaxby’s sponsored Athens, Georgia–based Downtown Academy’s Legacy of Hope fundraising dinner, which raises funds to support inner city education. Downtown Academy is the educational arm of Downtown Ministries, a nonprofit organization that engages youth and their families in inner city Athens, Georgia.
For a second consecutive year, Zaxby’s has ranked as America’s “Most Craveable Fast Casual” by Technomic, a market research firm specializing in the restaurant industry. The 2014 Consumer’s Choice Awards for Chain Restaurants are based on responses to Technomic’s Consumer Brand Metrics Program that tracks the performance of 120 restaurants nationally.

In its third-year alliance with Make-A-Wish, Zaxby’s is increasing its commitment to the organization with a $400,000 donation to help grant the wishes of more than 50 children with life-threatening medical conditions. To date, the chain has donated more than $1 million to Make-A-Wish to help make more than 100 children’s wishes come true.
For some brands, losing the long-held title of No. 1 limited-service chicken chain would feel defeating. But when KFC gave up its leading role this year to fellow quick serve Chick-fil-A, it wasted no time in getting back on its feet by introducing Original Recipe Boneless Chicken—a platform it hopes to make the brand’s biggest focus over the next few years—and, perhaps most noteworthy, by unleashing KFC eleven.
Zaxby’s Franchising Inc. announced its expansion into another new state with a multi-unit restaurant agreement. Veteran ZFI multi-unit franchisees Ben Williams Sr. and Bill McGeary, joined by Ben Williams Jr., have signed a deal that gives them exclusive rights to northeast Oklahoma, including the DMA of Tulsa. This deal is the second new-state multi-unit deal in the past 60 days for Zaxby’s, the Athens, Georgia–based fast-casual brand.
