Mimi's Cafe

Bob Evans Sells Mimi's Cafe to LeDuff America for $50M

Bob Evans Farms announced it had entered into a definitive agreement for the sale of its Mimi's Cafe restaurant chain to LeDuff America (LDA).

Mimi's Cafe is a French-inspired casual-dining restaurant with 145 locations in 24 states, primarily in the West and Southwest. It recently launched a new store-within-a-store concept that adds a quick-service component to its offerings.

The Sum of Its Parts

Not long after it announced its French Revolution brand reimage program, casual-dining chain Mimi’s Cafe thinks it’s found the key ingredient to brand expansion.

The new store-within-a-store concept—where guests can opt for a grab-and-go experience, a French bakery with gourmet coffees, a bistro, or a full-service, Parisian-themed dining area—allows the brand to reach quick-service customers, as well as its loyal full-service following.

Restaurants Feeling Heat From Retail Competition

Restaurants and retailers have a long history of competing over consumers' share of stomach. That competition becomes particularly intense late in the day, when busy families must decide what's for dinner. If money is tight, retailers often win the family dinner battle by offering appealing ready-to-eat, center-of-plate options, easily paired with sides.

Bastille Day Marches Into Mimi's Cafe

Mimi's will debut its Tour de Provence menu, sparkling with French tastes, on Bastille Day. The culinary adventure kicks off July 14, in honor of the French Independence Day. Mimi’s is offering new French-inspired menus and a chance to win a trip to Provence, France. Mimi’s will also debut its new Chocolate Mousse Muffin with a tasty offer: two free muffins with valid coupon and any purchase.
