Quaker Steak & Lube

Fun Culture and Unique Brand DNA: Quaker Steak & Lube looks for franchise owners committed to excellence

In 2014, Quaker Steak & Lube® celebrated its 40th anniversary. It’s seen exciting growth since its start in a small town in Pennsylvania in 1974, when George “Jig” Warren III and Gary “Moe” Meszaros reclaimed a filling station and converted into their first restaurant. Today, Quaker Steak & Lube® has expanded to include more than 55 locations across 16 states in the U.S., as well as Canada. It’s also won hundreds of awards over the years for its wings and more than 25 different wing sauces.

The wings and sauces, combined with compelling motor-themed décor such as race cars suspended from the ceilings, have helped to cement Quaker Steak & Lube® as the “go-to” brand. “We’ve created a cult-like following for The Lube® for more than 40 years,” says Greg Lippert, President and CEO of Quaker Steak & Lube®, “and we are looking to grow throughout the country.” In 2014, Quaker Steak & Lube® opened eight restaurants across six states.

“The Lube®,” as fans call it, is now looking for franchise owners who are passionate about the brand and philosophically aligned with its values and approaches to doing business. They should have experience in the restaurant/retail space, and must have a commitment to operational excellence as well as a passion for great guest service. Their total net worth should be at least $3 million, with liquid assets more than $500,000.

Quaker Steak & Lube® is looking to expand in a variety of markets across the U.S. and exclusive territories are available in many regions, including the southeast, southwest, and northeast. The company offers site location assistance, design and architectural plans, construction review, and preferred suppliers. Build-out options include freestanding, end cap, conversion, and non-traditional locations.

The company stands apart from its competitors, offering guests a great and memorable experience on every visit with the help of its craveable food and standout motor-sports memorabilia decorating every restaurant. For franchisees, the experience is also one-of-a-kind. “As one of the most unique casual-dining restaurants, Quaker Steak & Lube® offers franchisees unmatched fuel-injected operations support, as well as multiple revenue streams in each restaurant, including retail, sauces, SuperCharged events, food, and bar beverages,” Lippert says.

“Quaker Steak & Lube® is also well-known for its aggressive local marketing, public relations, and unique events, all of which add to the revenue stream,” says Lippert. All of these aspects combine to make Quaker Steak & Lube® “America’s Hottest Franchise” and one of the most differentiated brands in the casual fun family dining space.
