Fast casual salad concepts Snappy Salads and Mad Greens are merging together. The companies announced the merger on October 1. The two brands will continue to operate using their respective names under a newly formed company called Salad Collective.

“While each will maintain their unique menu and brand identity, the concepts will collaborate on best operational practices, shared administrative services, and creating a unified culture,” the company said in a statement.

Salad Collective will be led by Mad Greens’ Darden Coors as CEO and John Montgomery as president. Snappy Salads founder and chief executive Chris Dahlander will be stepping down from day-to-day operations, but will continue to aid the brand’s overall vision as a part of the Salad Collective board of directors.

“Both MAD Greens and Snappy Salads have a long history in fast-casual salads, offering their customers fresh, great-tasting healthy meals,” Dahlander said in a statement. “We are very excited to form this partnership and pool our collective resources to deliver greater value to our customers and our shareholders.”

Salad Collective will leverage the skills of the combined team to grow both salad brands.

“Each brand brings a talented leadership group, strong store performance and a focus on serving our customers through various channels,” Montgomery said in a statement. “Working together, we will leverage best practices, technologies and expertise across both brands to be even stronger in our respective markets.”

“We are thrilled with the opportunity to join forces with the Snappy Salads team,” Coors said in a statement. “We all share a passion for providing delicious, healthy, fresh and convenient food to as many people as we can reach. This makes each brand even better positioned to provide our customers with the freshest high-quality ingredients, amazing culinary experiences and excellent customer service.”

Since opening in 2004, Mad Greens’ footprint has expanded to 33 locations across Colorado, Arizona, and Texas. After searching for a healthier and more nutritious meal alternative, Dahlander, a former Brinker International marketing director, created Snappy Salads in 2006. Today, the brand operates 14 locations in the Dallas/Fort Worth metro area.

Terms of the merger were not disclosed.
