New York-based Just Salad is providing the opportunity for free Planet Fitness gym memberships to all of its employees starting in August. The new initiative could benefit over 800 employees nationwide.

“We’re focused on becoming the gateway to health for our customers and our teammates— that’s the driving force behind everything we do,” Just Salad CEO Nick Kenner says.

“Healthy living isn’t just about having salad for lunch a few times a week,” Kenner adds. “We want to give everyone easy and affordable access to healthy food, as well as connections to fitness classes and nutritionists to build a healthy lifestyle.”

Last year, Just Salad launched JustMove, a fitness series exclusively for Just Salad customers that provides free or discounted exercise classes. Previous partners include DavidBartonGym, Cyc Fitness, and Exhale Spa. They also sponsor basketball, soccer, and volleyball tournaments for its employees throughout the year. And while typical fast-casual restaurants only give 30 to 50 percent off employee meals, Just Salad provides a free meal for each shift.

The company plans to launch an educational series early next year called Just Salad University, Kenner says. This heavily discounted benefits program will provide additional life training courses such as financial planning, nutrition classes, and computer training to participating employees.

Just Salad launched in 2006 with one location in midtown Manhattan and now employs over 800 people in 29 locations in New York, Chicago, Hong Kong, and Dubai. The company offers a lineup of quality proteins like free-range grassfed beef, antibiotic-free humanely raised chicken, sustainable seafood, and organic tofu.
