Southern Deli Holdings, LLC has signed an agreement with Fuzzy’s Taco Shop to develop the fast-casual Mexican concept in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Charlotte location will be Fuzzy’s first restaurant in North Carolina, bringing unique and flavorful Baja-style fare to market. SD Holdings will be the exclusive franchisee in North Carolina with plans of continued expansion throughout the state.
Founded in 1999 in Charlotte, North Carolina, SD Holdings began as a single-store franchise, and has since grown to expand its footprint in North Carolina and South Carolina, as one of the largest McAlister’s Deli franchisees in the country. Additionally in 2015, they embarked on a new franchise venture, building a second brand in North Carolina, MOD Pizza. With almost 20 years of experience and operating over 30 locations across both states, SD Holdings brings their expertise to helping expand and grow the Fuzzy’s brand. Fuzzy’s Taco Shop will be SD Holding’s third fast-casual restaurant concept in the company’s portfolio.
“We’ve been huge fans of Fuzzy’s as customers in its existing markets, and know that Fuzzy’s is a great compliment to the two other brands that we are developing throughout North Carolina,” says Merrick McKinnie, President of SD Holdings.
Guests can expect generous helpings of uniquely flavorful foods at a fair price and in a fun atmosphere, earning Fuzzy’s Taco Shop their cult-like following surrounding its crave-able, freshly made-to-order food.
The signature Baja Tacos are served on the guests’ choice of a soft or crispy shell, and consist of the diner’s choice of protein including chicken, brisket, ground beef, pork, veggies, grilled or tempura fish, grilled or tempura shrimp, fajita chicken, or fajita beef, and topped with garlic sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, shredded cheese, cilantro and feta. Diners can also choose from jumbo burritos, salads, nachos, quesadillas and sandwiches. For a more traditional Mexican dinner, look to one of the enchilada, fajita or combo plates, also customizable with choice of protein.
Fuzzy’s Taco Shop’s 100-plus locations serve breakfast all day long, offering a robust selection that includes breakfast tacos and jumbo burritos (guests can choose from eggs, bacon, cheese, potatoes, chorizo and shrimp) as well as the brand’s “breakfast favorites”, including huevos rancheros, migas, chilaquiles, and the breakfast taco plate (all served with Latin-fried potatoes and refried beans), or the signature Big Fuzz Breakfast Sandwich, which is a meal in itself!
Entrees are complimented by starters, including chips paired with queso, fire-roasted salsa, or guacamole, and essential sides such as black beans with pico de gallo, mix-mex fried rice, cilantro-lime rice, Latin-fried potatoes, Borracho beans, and refried beans. Delicious desserts are the perfect way to complete any meal at Fuzzy’s, and beverage service showcases soft drinks, tea, beer, and signature margaritas.
A kid’s menu featuring entrees children will love is also available, including a taco plate, nachos, cheeseburger quesadilla and chicken sticks, with carrots and ranch dressing offered as a side.
