Pei Wei named John “J.” Hedrick as its new CEO. He joined the company on January 30. Hedrick brings a strong background in multi-unit hospitality and food service, specializing in retail operations while enhancing the guest experience.

He most recently served as chief operating officer of NPC International, the nation’s seventh-largest restaurant operator with 1,300 Pizza Hut and Wendy’s locations and annual revenues exceeding $1.2 billion. At NPC, he accelerated strong financial performance and growth while creating a customer-focused, employee-first mindset for long-term success.

“I am extremely excited about the opportunity to join Pei Wei—a great brand with a terrific future. As a longtime customer, I jumped at the chance to be part of the team,” says Hedrick. “I believe that, with a renewed focus on our team members and the needs of our customers, we will continue to position ourselves as a leader in the fast casual restaurant industry.”

In 2016, Pei Wei launched a rebranding initiative to forge a deeper connection with guests and elevate both the in-dining and take out experience through modern convenience and a “flavor with purpose” mission, featuring dishes made with mindfully sourced, fresh ingredients and a handcrafted approach to fast casual.

Hedrick’s other previous leadership positions with industry-leading companies included key operating and support roles at Pilot Flying J, 7-11, Inc. and RaceTrac Petroleum.
