Dickey’s Barbecue Pit is slated to open a new location in the Peach State in spring of 2018 with Dickey’s newest owner/operator, Sanchez Smith. The new location will be the 12th Dickey’s store to open in Georgia.

Originally from South Carolina, Smith recently made the state of Georgia his home and to immerse himself into his new community he decided to open his own restaurant. Smith has a passion for delicious, slow-smoked barbecue and when looking for franchising opportunities fell in love with Dickey’s Barbecue Pit.

“The Dickey’s Barbecue Pit family is thrilled to have Sanchez Smith join our team,” says Laura Rea Dickey, CEO of Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. “To enhance their passion for barbecue, we have each new Owner/Operator attend Barbecue University to learn how to perfectly smoke our meats ensuring all locations have the same authentic Dickey’s Barbecue Pit flavor. I am sure that Smith’s passion for barbecue and South Carolina roots will only heighten his Barbecue University experience.”

New to the restaurant industry, Smith was drawn to Dickey’s not only for the pit-smoked barbecue, but the rich history that surrounds Dickey’s and the support the Home Office offers its Owner/Operators.

Smith will soon graduate from Barbecue University after learning how to perfect the art of great barbecue. Barbecue University is a four-week course hosted in Dallas that all new Owner/Operators are required to attend. Throughout the four weeks, Owner/Operators learn how to prepare and smoke all of Dickey’s delicious meats; they also learn best Community Marketing practices and managerial training to ensure each Owner/Operator is successful in training their Pit Crew.

“I am excited to become a part of the Dickey’s Barbecue Pit family and look forward to learning alongside fellow Owner/Operators,” says Smith. “My community is in need of a delicious barbecue option and I am happy to provide that to them with Dickey’s slow-smoked barbecue.”
