VERTS Mediterranean Grill, a Texas-based award-winning fast-casual restaurant, will open its second Boston location at 545 Boylston Street on Friday, March 3. The restaurant, which made its Boston debut on Summer Street in November of 2016, offers chef-inspired pitas, bowls and salads highlighting high quality lean meats, housemade falafel, fresh veggies and zesty scratch-made sauces prepared daily.

In celebration of the opening, VERTS will offer guests one free, full-size entrée from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. while food is available. In addition, the first 100 guests will receive complimentary VERTS swag bags that include recipe cards, water bottles, koozies and sunglasses. Guests will also have the chance to participate in social media contests throughout the day.

As part of its commitment to the community, VERTS will donate 100 percent of sales of sides, drinks and extra entrées on opening day to 261 Fearless, an organization that aims to empower women through clubs, communities, and educational opportunities.

Founded in 2011 by Michael Heyne and Dominik Stein, two millennial MBA graduates from the University of Texas in Austin, VERTS was inspired by the traditional Mediterranean dishes the two missed from their native Europe.

“After being so well received on Summer Street, it’s exciting to now bring VERTS to the Back Bay,” says Stein, co-founder and co-CEO who recently appeared on the 2017 Forbes 30 Under 30 list. “We’re eager to introduce our variety of healthy Mediterranean choices to the students, residents and professionals who live and work in the neighborhood.”

At VERTS, guests first select a base for their meal, with options including pita, salad, rice bowl or quinoa bowl. They then choose from four lean delicious proteins, including beef and lamb, chicken, turkey and mushroom meatballs, and house-made falafel. Next, they customize their meal by adding savory toppings like spiced chickpeas, pickled jalapenos, carrot slaw, marinated green olives and sumac onions. Finally, they top off their entrée with a mouth-watering sauce made from scratch (or two). Options include spicy cilantro, tzatziki, hot harissa, hummus and roasted red pepper.

Both VERTS Back Bay and Summer Street locations offer takeout as well as a modern environment for a welcoming and comfortable dine-in experience.
