White Castle, America’s beloved family-owned hamburger chain for 96 years, announced that its customers, affectionately known as Cravers, helped raise $181,495 for the American Red Cross Home Fire Campaign. The 14-day ‘Turn White Castle Red this Valentine’s Day’ promotion encouraged customers to purchase a paper Red Cross for $1, $3, and $5 at nearly 400 White Castle restaurants.

“At White Castle, we are dedicated to feeding hunger, hopes and dreams through our Castle Shares initiative,” says Jamie Richardson, White Castle vice president. “The American Red Cross impacts countless lives in every community it serves, and we truly thank every person who donated to this worthy cause.”

This is the fourth year White Castle has partnered with the American Red Cross for a two-week fundraiser, and this year’s record total increases the campaign’s lifetime contribution to over $650,000 in support of American Red Cross’ efforts nationwide. White Castle donates over $2 million every year to a variety of charitable causes through its Castle Shares initiative.

The mission of the American Red Cross is to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. Donations to the American Red Cross help the organization provide safe shelter, food, emergency relief supplies, emotional support and health services to those in the wake of disasters.
