Mamoun’s Falafel, a fast growing Middle Eastern fast casual restaurant in North America, has signed a multi-unit deal to expand their franchise into Northern California. The deal is for 8 units, with real estate options currently being explored in Alameda County as well as the Milpitas and San Jose markets.

Mamoun’s Falafel has been a staple of the Greenwich Village scene since opening its doors in 1971. Mamoun Chater founded Mamoun’s using authentic family recipes, traditional Middle Eastern spices, and only the freshest ingredients. This formula quickly established a reputation of being the most authentic and flavorful falafel in the city.

Mamoun’s is the oldest falafel restaurant in New York and is now available to franchise nationwide. The Northern California deal will be the first for Mamoun’s on the west coast.

The new franchisees, Gautam and Jaimin Patel, have been fans of Mamoun’s for years and have been inquiring about franchising since 2013. “We fell in love with the authentic taste of the falafels, baklava, and especially the hot sauce (which holds a permanent spot in our fridge) coupled with the unique experience of waiting in an enormous line with our friends,” said franchisee Gautam Patel. “We love Mamoun’s and we’re excited to bring the concept to Northern California.”

In addition to its famous falafel, Mamoun’s menu is filled with other delicious Middle Eastern cuisine including falafel, shawarma, hummus, baba ganouj, and desserts such as baklava and knafe. Throughout the years, Mamoun’s has been featured on the Food Network, has received rave reviews in countless media outlets, and has been praised by various musicians, actors, comedians, and other famous celebrities.

Mamoun’s Falafel has partnered with Fransmart, the industry leading franchise development company behind the explosive growth of brands like Five Guys Burgers and Fries and Freshii. Mamoun’s is currently looking to establish franchise locations in major U.S. media markets
