Cava, the Washington, D.C.-based Mediterranean culinary and restaurant brand, announced that it will join the diverse and growing restaurant communities of Austin, Boston, and Charlotte in early 2018. The openings are slated for both city and suburban locations, including The Drag, Downtown and West Lake Hills in Austin, Fenway, Back Bay and Dedham in Boston, and UNC-Charlotte and Park Road in Charlotte.

“At Cava, our mission is to fuel full lives through a bold and innovative food culture,” says CEO Brett Schulman. “The addition of these 20 new restaurants will allow us to bring our nutritious, flavorful, convenient food to even more communities, as well as broaden our ability to make a positive impact.” Cava offers a starting hourly wage of $13 at all restaurants with the added benefits of paid sick leave, family leave and community leave, plus career advancement support for all hourly workers. “We’re very excited to bring these types of opportunities, and delicious, vibrant food, to Austin, Boston and Charlotte,” says Schulman.

Cava’s culture is rooted in the heritage of its founders, featuring bold Mediterranean flavors and ingredients inspired by the recipes Executive Chef Dimitri Moshovitis grew up with. Dimitri, along with childhood friends Ted Xenohristos and Ike Grigoropoulos, started CAVA to share the authentic flavors and hospitality of their upbringing with a wider audience in a modern, accessible format.  The seasonally-inspired, completely customizable menu of offerings includes signature items like Crazy Feta, Border Springs Spicy Lamb Meatballs, and Cauliflower Quinoa Tabbouleh, made from scratch in-house every day. Cava also produces a line of handcrafted dips and spreads sold in over 200 Whole Foods Markets.

The company has raised $96MM to date, investing in their own in-house technology and operations to facilitate an unrivaled customer experience, including the release of their proprietary digital app earlier in 2017.  “In keeping with our goal to make the lives of our customers easier, this technology allows guests to order their favorite, nutritious meal and pick it up at the time that is most convenient for them,” says Director of Technology Josh Patchus.

In addition to the move into Austin, Boston, and Charlotte, there will be continued expansion in existing states including seven new openings in the DMV area and five new locations in New York and New Jersey, and the first restaurant in Connecticut. Cava is now hiring locally for management positions at all new locations.
