Even Stevens Sandwiches, a craft-casual restaurant built on the buy-one-give-one model, had a big night at the Utah Restaurant Association’s Industry Awards. Celebrating 75 years of serving Utah’s restaurant and food service industries, the URA serves the entire state of Utah through education, advocacy, community, and promotion.

Michael McHenry, president of Even Stevens Sandwiches, was awarded the prestigious Golden Spoon Award for Restaurateur of the Year. The Golden Spoon is given to an individual owner/operator who has devoted his life to the restaurant industry creating high standards that impact for good the restaurant industry and the communities in which we live and do business.

“Restauranteur of the Year” is not about any one person but a collective of many who dedicate their careers and talents to crafting experiences through food. Humbled by the many who have joined and contributed to this incredible journey. Food truly does connect us all,” says Michael McHenry

For the second year in a row, Even Stevens Sandwiches was awarded the Restaurant Neighbor Award. This award highlights the positive contributions restaurants make in their local neighborhoods every day and honors outstanding community service and involvement.

The Salt Lake-native craft-casual restaurant serves sandwiches, salads, bites, and local craft beer unique to each store’s location.  Even Stevens takes great pride in the craft process and by using local ingredients and allowing the menu to evolve based on customer advocacy, this brand honors tradition while leaving an open door for creativity.  Craft has a story to tell, and by serving up fresh perspectives on traditional recipes, Even Stevens get to be a part of it.

Even Stevens now donates over 120,000 sandwiches per month to 80 non-profit partners across six states. Partnering non-profits say Even Stevens’ donations allow them to save cash on feeding clients, and instead direct resources towards programs that address the root causes of food insecurity – homelessness, disability, displacement, and unemployment among them.
