Sandwich chain Goodcents already offered a menu of fresh-sliced sub sandwiches and pastas, but last year launched the Centsable Kitchen brand of refrigeration units as a way to give guests some more premium options in a grab-and-go format. Centsable offers more than 20 pre-packed, fully prepared meals, including tri-tip steak with roasted potatoes, classic lasagna, chicken carnitas tacos, and grilled Atlantic salmon. There are also snacks like protein bars and a fruit-and-yogurt parfait.

Centsable’s food is prepared at Goodents’ Culinary Center in De Soto, Kansas. The units are installed at nine Goodcents units across the U.S., with plans to expand to more of the chain’s 80 locations. “Consumers are looking for convenient meals that are fresh, but at the right price,” says Mike O’Toole, chief growth and support officer for Goodcents. “With our experience, we saw an opportunity to deliver on those demands.”

Grab and go is a new way for Goodcents to adapt to trends and test bold flavors in a new format, O’Toole says. The brand is about value, he adds, and is out to deliver flavor and quality at an attractive price. In addition, Centsable’s menu is available for pickup or delivery through online ordering. “Younger generations are seeking bolder, more complex flavors, as well as a streamlined, easy-to-use online ordering and delivery platform,” he says./p>
